Welcome to St. Paul's Episcopal Church206 6th Avenue Durant, Iowa 52747

Durant United Christian Kids and Youth

At St. Paul’s, we are striving to take seriously the challenge of making disciples of Jesus Christ. This is a calling that is given to each and every member of the Church, beginning with the very youngest among us.

Starting on September 10, 2008, St. Paul's will partner with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant to present a Wednesday evening program for children from Preschool through 6th Grades. Known as "The Bible Zone" at St. Paul's this past year, our program is now part of DUCKY - Durant United Christian Kids and Youth. You may download a registration form HERE, or call the church at (563) 785-6228 to register your child.

Each evening will begin at 5:30 p.m., with worship and a kid-friendly meal, followed by Bible lessons, games, and fun, and ending at 7:00 p.m. The Fall 2008 semester will be held at St. Paul's Church, and conclude with the Christmas Program. Beginning in January 2009, our venue will move to Gloria Dei for the Spring semester, and concluding with a picnic for students, teachers, and families in April 2009.

As children grow in their faith, we urge them to consider Confirmation as a sacramental re-affirmation of their baptism. Confirmation is offered as a two-year program, for youth who express a desire to enter. Again, there is no age requirement, but rather an emphasis on desire and parental conversation with the clergy.

Adults are encouraged in their faith development in various ways. Bible studies are offered year-round. Currently, a noontime study is held on Wednesdays to consider the lessons assigned for the approaching Sunday’s worship. A women’s study also meets on a weekly basis. Development of a men’s bible study is underway. Occasional programs are offered on Sunday mornings, both thematic and seasonal studies of Scripture.

All the programs designed to encourage Christian formation at St. Paul’s Church begin with the end in mind: becoming more committed disciples of the Lord Jesus.
